Dr Appt- 31 Weeks

This is going to be a quick update because I'm exhausted and have to watch The Real Housewives in a few minutes!! :) haha

  • Had my 31 Week appointment and it was a quick one
  • Heartbeat was in the 140's
  • I'm still sitting at 16 lbs total gained
  • I met with Dr. Gratkins and he cracked me up today, he came in shook my hand asked how I was feeling told me I looked great and blah blah blah... Then he procedes to ask "So have you stood in the mirrior butt ass naked and cried yet?" I just started laughing, I've met him twice, how could he tell that I'm the type that would do that? I thought it was funny and when I told my mom she'laughed and said 'he knows you too well'. :)
  • I did ask him about how soon I could start walking/running, and he said that a week or so after I have the baby I could go on walks, but the running he said more like 3-4 weeks (that is obviously if I don't have to have a c-section).
It was a very quick appointment and I was in and out, but that was good because my sister had Madison today!! She is just so precious, I bawled my eyes out when Jason sent me a picture of her.  She looks so much like her mommy, but Em said she has Jason's eyes.  I didn't get to see them though because the little stinker slept the whole time I was there. I'm hoping to go back down tomorrow after work, but we'll see... I have so much stinkin laundry to do.  I will post pictures of her hopefully tomorrow or Thursday (depending on if I go back tomorrow).

House Remodel Update

It has been forever since I have posted updated pictures of our remodel, so here they are.  The drywaller is coming this week and Michael is hoping to put primer on the walls this weekend *fingers crossed*.  After that they will be ready to paint.  The cabinets are in and we ordered the flooring for the kitchen last week so that should be here next week sometime.  Once we get it painted we can put the cabinets in and the appliances (which should be here the second week of April).  Then we can do the flooring and hopefully keep it moving along.  I will leave you with these pictures and will try to update Brocks room in a seperate post, his pretty much looks like what these pictures show (drywall that needs to be finished).

Standing at the back door view- The hallway entrance was moved down to allow for more room for a kitchen table since we replaced the window with sliding doors

Kitchen- We have a new door that will replace that old wooden one

29 Week Dr. Appt

  • I had my first two week Dr. Appt today.  We got lots of pictures.   At one point he was sucking on his fist and then at another point we watched him playing with his toes!!
  • Heartbeat was 137 bpm
  • I gained 4ish pounds in two weeks! Yikes! So that puts me up to a total of 16, the dr. said I've gained 15 but I've been keeping track myself and I believe its 16 lbs.
  • I think little man is going to have a big noggin-  It is measuring two weeks and so many days ahead.  I really hope that I don't have to have a c-section because of this, but we'll do whats best for baby when the time comes. :)
  • His body is measuring at 30 weeks
  • His femur bone is measuring about 3 days behind (he will probably be on the shorter side- ha we could have guessed that one though, not too much height to us)
  • My fluid level is up to 15 now, 17 is where they want ya, so much better!
  • I asked about my glucose test (I knew I had passed since I never heard anything from them) it was 128 and the 'cut-off' is 130- yikes, I about had to do the three hour test!
  • I go back in two weeks for a regular check-up/appt. And won't have another U/S until 36 weeks, which I know will be here before we know it!
His sweet little face and a hand

Sorry for the blurriness it was taken with my phone, my belly has grown so much!

A front view, sorry if I gross anyone out! :)
I will try to get some better pictures this weekend* maybe*, it has been choas around here.  The house is a mess, there is no good place to take a picture and Michael has been working around here till 7 sometimes 8 and well by 8 I'm ready to head to bed.  I'm hoping to post more pictures on the house at the end of the weekend.  Our big window in the front/livingroom is being put in and they are cutting the brick and putting in sliding doors where windows use to be by the kitchen table.  I guess I will just have to go shopping this weekend! ;) Or perhaps little Miss Madison will decide to come and I can go to the hospital and smooch on her!

28 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 28 Weeks

Gender: BOY- Brock :)
Maternity Clothes: Yes, last Friday was the first day I wore maternity pants, and my jeans are getting snug too so I broke down and ordered some maternity jeans from the Gap, I'm hoping they work.

Weight gain: 12 lbs as of my last appointment last Monday, I go back again a week from today so we'll see. :)

Movement: Yes, sometimes he does some stuff in there that makes me jump!
Sleep: Wake up to pee at least twice sometimes 3 times... Lateley I've been waking up at 3 having to go to the bathroom and then can't fall back asleep till almost 5, its very frustrating since I get up at 5:30 anyway.

Symptoms: Acid reflux still.. :( not fun.
Cravings: Nothing really

Aversions: Nothing really I can think of, I'm just kind of in that stage where nothing really sounds good and deciding what to have a meal times is really hard, I almost wished I had cravings instead, at least then I know what I feel like.

What I miss: sleeping through the night and being able to lay however I want.
Best moment this week:  How about the worse? Drinking the glucose drink- Yuck! I'm hoping I don't hear from the Dr's office which will mean I passed!! :) We'll see.  Michael got the windows put in Brocks rooms yesterday so were making some progress slowly but surely, hopefully he'll be drywalling it this weekend!! :)

*Erica if your reading this I promise to get an updated picture of my belly (it has grown a lot) :)...

27 Week Appt.

  • I had my last "4 week" visit Monday, I will now start going every 2 weeks! So crazy how fast the time is going.  I do have to go back next Monday for my glucose test and then again March 15th for another regular appt/ultrasound.
  • My fluid level is also kind of low so the Dr. wants to check that at the next U/S in two weeks. I drank 6 stinking bottles of water yesterday, do you know how hard that is?  Not to mention having to go to the bathroom all the time!
  • Our pictures from the U/S sucked- I was kind of upset the tech only gave us 3 and none of them were that good.  He had his hand up by his face so that was blocking some of it. He also had the hiccups while we were there..
  • I gained another 3 pounds so I'm up to a total of 12...
  • His heart rate was 144 bpm and he is head down (which I realize can still change).
  • The tech was able to tell me exactly where everything was positioned at, which explained some of the jabs I have been feeling in my ribs! :)
  • We went to pick up the crib (we took Michael's grandma's van) and it didn't fit! haha, we were able to get the matress purchased and took that home with us, my Dad is going to pick the crib up Friday after work, again not like were in any hurry!
  • The swatches came in (that are posted in the post below) they sent me some so I could match stuff to them, and I'm even more in love with what the bedding is going to look like.  :)

All things Baby

I ordered Brock's crib on Sunday and got a call Thursday that it was IN! Quicker than what I thought it would take. Here is the crib we went with:

I LOVE it, I think its even better in person. So I'm hoping to go pick it up sometime this weekend or Monday after my Dr. appointment. Once I got the call that it was in it gave me some motivation to call and get the bedding ordered. I feel like we are slacking 'first time parents' I'm sure most first timers already have all the stuff ordered and perhaps set up by now? Hopefully I'm wrong. In our defense we aren't in a hurry by any means especially when the little guys room looks like this at the moment:

It's not quite baby ready wouldn't ya say?! ha.

We'll get there, Michael has been working his butt off so I have no worries that it won't be done, I just get myself overwhelmed at times and need a good sob session thats all. :)

So Thursday I spent most of my lunch hour on the phone ordering his bedding, but I loved every second of it. Mostly because where I ordered it is out of Mobile, AL and the lady had the sweetest southern accent! I could listen to someone with a southern accent ALL DAY! I wish I had one! :) Anyways back to his bedding... Its not going to be here until the first part of April. Here's what we I went with:

Love the minky fabrics, I had originally planned on grays and creams but when I was talking to the lady on the phone she said that it was definately white and gray zigzag print. I was a little bummed but then knew I needed to put some other color in there besides just the gray, I didn't want to use white because first our water is horrible on whites and second white and a small child don't mix well. I also had planned on painting the walls gray, so the more I told her my plans we decided that it would be too much gray so we decided to add in some of the Tiffany Blue color too.  I think I may throw in some navy and lime green colors too, not sure yet though.  I liked this because if we ever have a girl its still neutral and I can throw pinks in with it. I'm excited/nervous to see how it turns out and I hope it turns out as good as the vision I have in my head!!

** Only a few more weeks till little Miss Madison is here-- I CANNOT wait! My sister only has a few weeks left and I'm so excited to meet the little one, I hope she has lots of dark hair! I may have to stop in Fairbury every night before I go home just to get my baby fix! haha- Kidding Em I won't annoy you guys that much! :)

Remodel

I know I just posted pictures a week ago of the 'remodel process' but Michael has worked really hard this week and here is how much it has changed already:

Looking into the livingroom

View from when you walk in from the garage.

Door to go to the garage and stairs going to the basement
The rest of the cabinets will be ripped out in the next day or two.  I can't wait until the tearing out process is over and we can start 'rebuilding' everything.  I'm ready for the mess of old to be gone and ready for the new mess.  I know that it will be so worth it in the end, it just seems like we'll never get there!!!

26 Weeks

**I will hopefully get a belly picture up tonight**

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 26 Weeks

Gender: BOY- Brock :)

Maternity Clothes: I have worn some maternity shirts for the length, but still wearing most of my normal clothes.  Its weird my jeans still fit but I have to use the belly band with all my work pants, it must be because my jeans are so low rise? Thats what I'm going with anyway!

Weight gain: 9 lbs.... I go to the Dr. Monday so I'm sure I've put on a LOT more, My belly is really 'out there' now.

Movement: Yes!! He's moving a lot more now.

Sleep: Wake up about every 2 hours it seems lately.

Symptoms: Acid reflux, I had it so bad Monday night I almost threw up from it, it was horrible and then it started to come back again last night around the same time 10:30-11 ish.

Cravings: Gloria Jeans white choclote caramel sounds soooo good most of the time, thank god the closest is in Bloomington and I'm usually only there once a week. :)

Aversions: Nothing really I can think of, I'm just kind of in that stage where nothing really sounds good and deciding what to have a meal times is really hard, I almost wished I had cravings instead, at least then I know what I feel like.
What I miss: Running and feeling in shape, I miss the feeling you get after a good run!

Best moment this week: I ordered his crib on Sunday it should be here by the end of next week, although it probably won't be put up until the end of April, maybe sooner if his room gets finished sooner.   I'm going to order his bedding hopefully tonight when I get off work! :) I can't wait for our appointment on Monday, we will get to see our little guy again!!

House Remodel

Well, call us crazy but we are remodeling not only the babies room but the kitchen, livingroom and hallway, so pretty much everything (in my opinion).  Michael remodeled the one bathroom when he bought the house a few years ago, we just have to finish the back bathroom.  I get overwhelmed when I really sit and think about it.  I had one break down so far (crying, I blame pregnancy hormones).

We have set up a make-shift livingroom and kitchen in the basement.  Our basement isn't that bad but I think it just depresses me when I'm down there watching TV.  I was off work today and I honestly think I would have rather been at work (thank god we don't have another 3 day weekend till Memorial day and hopefully Brock will be here then or at least getting ready :) Thinking that way makes me happy.  This house better be at least 95% complete by then.

Michael is upstairs tearing out drywall as we speak, and that makes me teary-eyed, because here he's worked all day and now he is up there working his ass off still and I feel so helpless because I can't do a thing. I think I'm just an emotional mess today! ha-ha. He is seriously the greatest hubby.

We ordered the windows and doors so those should be here in a few weeks and then we can put new drywall up!  We already have the cabinets/crown molding picked out but thats a ways away before we can start putting those in.  We still have to pick out the counters, backsplash, appliances, flooring, cabinet nobs.  I think I pretty much know what I want for appliances and we know we want wood floors for the kitchen and carpet for the livingroom area, its just deciding which look we go with.  And then there's the decor and livingroom furniture.... Ahhh I'll just stop there for now, its making my head spin thinking about it! haha.  I will leave you with some pictures,  Michael had already ripped out the carpet, trim and took curtains and stuff down before I was able to get pictures.  He started yesterday while I was shopping with my Mom. So here's the best of what I got for "before" pictures..... I will warn you it IS the original kitchen and verrryy out dated, but we made it work. :)

View from where the kitchen table was, to the right is the hall going to the bedrooms/bathroom

View from the hall to the left is the kitchen to the right is the livingroom and a closet was in the middle there

Belly Pictures

Blurry Belly Pictures-

Really Blurry! :S
Sorry for the crappy quality, we bought a decent camera last summer, but it seems that if you aren't perfectly still the pictures turn out blurry.  If any of you know anything about cameras and possibly know what it may be please comment, because we can't figured it out for the life of us! Its a Nikon L120.
Anyways, on to the pictures, I feel like my belly has really 'popped' this week, someone else made that comment to me too.  I snapped these pictures really fast before work last Wednesday, so technically they are 24 weeks and 1 day.  I took them in the basement because that's the only mirror that I can see my stomach in.  And then when I was finished I was faced with the elliptical and treadmill :( it made me sad that I haven't been on either of them in FOREVER! I know once I get back to them I will miss not using them! ha, funny how that works huh!
We had a nice weekend, especially since I was off today :)! We went to Champaign Saturday and registered.  I still have some things I need to add.  I was so overwhelmed by all the stuff.  I know we need everything, but what is everything?  I'm not sure what kind of bottle's he'll take, passies he'll take, etc., so I almost hate to register for that stuff. I think Michael enjoyed scanning the items :).  I showed Michael the crib and glider/chair in person that I want, I think he bout died when he saw the price tags on each of them haha!

24 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 24 Weeks

Gender: BOY!!!

Maternity Clothes: Nope (I am having to use my belly band though most of the time)-- I did just order some maternity stuff (none of its cute, in my opinion).  I bought one top at Old Navy on Saturday while I was shopping along with 2 regular cardigans and the cashier held up the maternity one and was like 'you do know this a maternity top' I kinda laughed and said 'yeah I've been holding off' and she was like 'oh you don't look pregnant'... She made my day but in her defense I had something a little looser on.! I think my belly has really popped out within the last week.

Weight gain: 9 lbs.... ahh!!

Movement: Yes!! He's moving a lot more now.

Sleep: Wake up about every 2 hours it seems lately.

Symptoms: Acid reflux and it sucks!!!

Cravings: Haven't really had any cravings lately.

Aversions: Nothing really I can think of!

What I miss: Running and feeling in shape, I miss the feeling you get after a good run!

Best moment this week: Feeling him move, I love it.  And shopping this past weekend with my Mom, Brock is one spoiled little boy. He got lots of new clothes! :) I had so much fun getting stuff for him!

This wasn't all bought this past weekend, and some of the outfits were gifts!!

22 Week Bump Pic...

I realize I'm closer to 23 weeks than I am 22.  I think I look bigger in my 20 week picture than I do this one, but I'm guessing its just the angle.  I always have Michael take them but may have to start doing them myself because he refuses to do re-takes if need be.  I met with the Dr. that will be delivering me today (Dr. Gratkins) I usually meet with the nurse practioner, Deb, and I LOVE her.  Today was kinda of a boring appointment (no U/S, so I refer to them as the "not fun ones", I mean I love going and hearing the heartbeat, but I'd much rather see him :).  I gained 2-2.5 lbs since the last time, which I thought for sure I'd gained at least another 5-6, so that made me happy.  Little mans heartbeat was in the 140's.  Other than that nothing else exciting really took place other than I go back in 4 weeks and then start going every 2 weeks after that- CrAzY!!! A lot is going to be changing around here in the next few months, I will update more on that later!  But for now I will leave you with my belly pics. :)

See I do have other sweatpants than the gray ones I always wear! :)

I need a tan!!

Before my appt. I made a few stops and one of them was to Motherhood-- O-M-Goodness, I coulda cried walking in there- nothing cute! I found stuff online but was not impressed with the actual store, I think I'll gladly pay the shipping! They don't have the selection in the store like they do online.  I just miss cute clothes! ha. :) Oh well only going to get bigger from here.

'Little Mans' name...

The name process wasn't the easiest for us, well it was for me.  I had a list of both boy and girl names, we had a girls name picked out and agreed on, boys not so much.  With Michael, choosing names isn't the easiest or maybe I like some off-the-wall names (according to him).  It seems like almost every name I would suggest he would have some wise comment or 'nickname' for it. We agreed on two boys names and then decided based on the fact that there was already someone in the area with the other name we liked so that is how we got to what we named him.  (Yes we realized that you can't avoid having the same name as someone in your area I mean Michael has one of the most heard of names out there.)  Michael really liked this name since 1. its the name of a UFC fighter and 2. it means badger (He thinks of the honey badger, which if you don't watch college football like my junkie-of-a- husband does you wouldn't understand ;) I love being able to talk about 'him' using his name now and not having to worry about slipping up with it, like I almost did the other night talking to my sister.  We haven't settled on a middle name yet but we have plenty of those to choose from so I'm not too worried about that.  If you scroll down you will see his name along with a cute little profile picture of him!! :)

This isn't a new picture, it was from my 19 week appointment.

22 Weeks

I was too lazy to take a belly picture tonight so I will be sure to get that up either tomorrow or Saturday, along with little mans name!! :)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 22 Weeks

Gender: BOY!!!
Maternity Clothes: Nope (I am having to use my belly band though most of the time) I'm thinking I may need to go start getting some maternity tops here soon though.
Weight gain: So far 7, I go to the Dr. Monday so we'll see then, I'm sure I've gained at least another 5.
Movement:  Yes! Ever since our scare a few weeks ago he has been a moving machine, although the last few days he's slowed down some.  He must have flipped or something this past weekend because it made me jump! I don't think he likes when I lay on my back because that is when I feel him the most.
Sleep: Not too bad
Symptoms: Acid reflux, I swear its almost everytime after I eat something-- Not fun!
Cravings: Haven't really had any cravings lately.
Aversions: Nothing really I can think of!
What I miss: Running and feeling in shape, I miss the feeling you get after a good run!

Best moment this week: Just feeling him move more, getting a much needed massage last night, and sharing his name with some of our family! :) I will be sure to post his name when I post my belly picture! :) I'll give you all a hint... it starts with a "B"!

So much to do

I'm starting to get stressed/anxious about the nursery.  We have NOTHING bought yet.  I know what crib I want, have to finish deciding on the bedding (I'm ordering it off a site where you can design your own) and I've emailed someone about a dresser I found on craigslist.  However, we can't really start on the room until it gets warm enough to put new windows in.  I LOVE our house, I know Michael probably thinks I hate it because I do get depressed every once in a while about how much updating it needs (luckily its all neutral in here and not some 70's orange or green color), but the truth is I would be sad if we had to move.  That being said were planning on not only putting new windows in but new carpet, new trim and doors in the babys room.  So yeah, a LOT to do.  As I sit here and type it all out it really starts to freak me out that we won't get it done in time.  Michael has reassured me that it can be done in a few weekends.  My mom is on spring break at the end of March and she loves to paint, so she may be painting some over her break.  I just feel like we have SO much to do and the time is just ticking away.  On top of wanting to do the nursery I'm wanting to get new living room furniture, paint, new curtains and carpet.  Yes I'm insane.  But a few weeks ago while I was shopping, Michael and one of his friends were wrestling around (yes he's 27 :) and they broke the back of our couch, no our couch wasn't anything fancy but its still a nice couch.  So Michael screwed himself there because now it makes a terrible noise when you go to sit on it.  Whats even better?  I didn't even know until about 4 days later my sister came over  and sat on it and it made a noise and Michael just started smiling and laughed!

Okay I realize I'm just rambling--- these are just the thoughts that are going on in my head right now!!!
Please pray that we get little mans (that may be the last time he is called that because we'll be sharing his name soon enough) room done in time for him.

Our Friday the 13th....

** This post may gross some of you out.. So don't say I didn't warn you!

Friday the 13th I won't be sad to see you go.  It has been quite a long/emotional day.  Lets just say it started last night.  I went to the bathroom about a half hour before it was time to go home and when I wiped there was a little bit of blood, it happened 2 more times at home.  I called my Dr. when it happened at work freaking out, they told me to just watch it and to go home and get some rest and take it easy.  Fast forward to this morning (13th)....

Michael was off today so I woke him up so he could get the drive way clear before I left for work.  I got to work and everything was fine, I took a stool with me to prop my feet up.  It started sometime shortly after 9, my stomach was cramping (like menstral cramps) and my low back was hurting pretty bad.  At first I thought that my back was just hurting from the not-so-comfortable chair that I sit in.  Finally about 10:15 I text Michael and asked him if he was at his moms.  He said he was headed there so I told him to ask her what she thought about my cramps/back (shes a RN).  They told me I needed to go have my urine checked for a possible UTI, I hesitated for a while because I felt so bad leaving work on such short notice.  Michael started getting really upset/mad with me on the phone saying that I needed to get checked out.  So I decided that maybe I should just to be safe.  I went to the Health Department and they tested my urine for me- everything looked fine with it.  The nurses there told me I needed to at least go to the ER to get checked out (Dr. Gratkins office is closed on Fridays).  They told me Michael was on his way over, and sure enough like 5 minutes later Michael showed up.

We went to the ER and they sent us up to the OB floor.  They checked us in and I got into a gown and they hooked me and the baby up to a monitor.  Once I heard the heartbeat chugging along I was SO relieved, thats all I wanted to hear.  Little man was NOT liking the monitor being on, he was kicking like CRAZY.  Michael was actually able to see my belly moving so that was neat!  After being there for a little over an hour, they said everything looked fine, my urine sample that I left for them looked fine.  They discharged me and told me to follow up with Dr. Gratkins.

Once we got to the car I called Dr. Gratkins and they had to page him.  He called back a few minutes later and told me to come see him next Thursday,  I asked if he wanted to see me since they said everything looked fine, and he told me to see how I feel over the weekend and call on Monday if I decide I want to come in an they'll do an U/S.  I just feel awful for missing work, I know I shouldn't and my child comes first I just feel so bad for the other secretaries.  I may go Thursday just because I would feel more comfortable seeing my DR and I'm not a big fan of Pontiac hospital myself.  I was also disappointed they didn't check my cervix or anything else.  So for my peace of mind I may go Thursday just to be safe.

Well that was our CRAZY Friday, not how I wanted to spend it but so glad the little guy is okay.  Prayers definatley worked.  I prayed like crazy the whole way to the hospital and cried most of the way because I was so afraid something was wrong with my baby.

20 Week Belly Pics/ 19 Week Appt.

Look at that belly- its def. getting bigger--- ahh!!

And clothed, had to sport one of my Bama shirts today at work! :)

Pregnancy Highlights:
How Far Along: 20 Weeks-- half way already!

Gender: BOY!!! My Dad finally gets a boy!
Maternity Clothes: Nope (I am using my bella band though for some pants), but I broke down and ordered a pair of  maternity pants and two tops, I wanted to try the pants before I bought more in different colors.
Weight gain: Uhhh I'm ashamed to even write it but, I gained 5 freaking pounds since the last time, so a total of 7!!! I wanted to cry when I saw the number, but was reminded that its for a good reason.
Movement:  Yes!! He moves at night when I lay down to go to bed and in the morning before I get up and take my shower. It is so neat!!
Sleep: Not too bad

Symptoms: Stomach is still itchy and acid reflux, needless to say I have been munching on Tums.
Cravings: These Jamba juice smoothies, all you do is add 8 oz of apple juice and blend in the blender (they are good for you too) :)
Aversions: Nothing really I can think of!
What I miss: Running and feeling in shape, I miss the feeling you get after a good run! We just got an elliptical so I can't wait to switch off using that and the treadmill to get the baby weight off after little man arrives!!
Best moment this week: (this was last week at our appt)Finding out were having a BOY, I had a feeling all along it was a boy, hearing/seeing the baby and everything checking out okay last week at the appointment.  His heartbeat was 159 bpm.  And finding out my thyroid levels have come down, I'm still taking thyroid medicine but was glad to see they are where they need to be!

I am so excited to start the nursery, I have so many ideas and think I've got my bedding figured out for the most part.  I found a crib that I really like too, but I don't think that I want to buy a changing station/ dresser that comes with the crib set.  I'm hoping to find a dresser and paint it and put new knobs/handles on it and put the changing pad on that (we'll see though).  To me it is just a waste of money to buy the whole set because I probably won't use it after were done having kids (thats just my opinon).  I think thats all I have for now, I will upload pictures from last week when we shared the news!!
